LSU Student Arrested on Distribution of Child Abuse Material
On February 20th, police arrested 20-year-old Jahi Palmer-Davis for the intent of trading and selling child sex abuse material on social media. Authorities were initially tipped on January 5th after they were notified that two media materials were uploaded onto Instagram that displayed the sexual abuse of children under the age 13; the account was later discovered to belong to Jahi. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Jahi had distributed the two aforementioned media materials as well as contacted other Instagram users to sell and trade the material as well and communicated with a 14-year-old user to whom he had sent videos and told the minor where to go online to upload explicit photos of themselves. It was also discovered that Jahi had used his LSU email to upload child sexual abuse material.
According to his LinkedIn, Palmer-Davis was a junior double majoring in psychology and sociology with a minor in public relations. He appeared before a district judge later in the week where he was charged with two counts of pornography involving minors as well as two counts of unauthorized use of a wireless router due to utilizing a university IP address. Palmer-Davis’ bail was set at $70,000 and was issued an order not to access the Internet.
